Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 3, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Spotbo, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you use our platform. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which provides more detail on how we collect and use your information.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better user experience, and give site operators information about how their site is being used. Cookies may be set by the site you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services that provide content or functionality on the site ("third-party cookies").

In addition to cookies, we also use browser local storage (including localStorage and IndexedDB), which allows us to store data directly in your browser. These technologies function similarly to cookies but can store larger amounts of data and are not sent to the server with every request.

2. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. Without them, you would not be able to log in or use core features:

Cookie / StorageProviderPurpose
Authentication sessionSupabaseKeeps you logged in and manages your session securely
CSRF tokenSpotboProtects against cross-site request forgery attacks

3. Functional Storage

These technologies remember your preferences and settings to provide a better experience:

StorageTechnologyPurpose

Map view statelocalStorageRemembers your last map position and zoom level
E2E encryption keysIndexedDBStores your end-to-end encryption key material for direct messaging. This data never leaves your device.

4. Analytics Cookies

We use analytics to understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. Analytics cookies are only set with your consent where required by applicable law:

CookieProviderPurpose
Vercel Web AnalyticsVercelCollects anonymized performance and usage data, such as page views and load times. Data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual users.

Vercel Web Analytics is privacy-focused and does not use cookies for cross-site tracking. It does not collect personal information and data is not shared with third parties.

5. Third-Party Cookies

Certain third-party services that are integrated into Spotbo may set their own cookies. We do not control these cookies. The third-party services that may set cookies on our platform are:

  • Supabase — authentication and session management cookies necessary for the Service to function.
  • Mapbox — may set cookies related to map rendering and performance optimization when you use the explore map feature.
  • Vercel — analytics cookies as described above, set only with your consent where required.

We do not use any third-party marketing, advertising, or retargeting cookies. We do not allow third-party advertising networks to place cookies on our platform.

6. How to Manage Cookies

You have several options for managing cookies:

  • In-app consent banner — when you first visit Spotbo, you will see a consent banner that allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies.
  • Browser settings — most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. You can set your browser to block all cookies or to notify you when a cookie is being set. Please note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from using the Service.
  • Clearing local storage — you can clear your browser's local storage and IndexedDB through your browser's developer tools or settings. Note that clearing IndexedDB will delete your end-to-end encryption keys, which may make previous encrypted messages unreadable.

For more information about how to manage cookies in specific browsers, visit your browser's help documentation.

7. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites you visit indicating that you do not wish to be tracked. Because there is no universally accepted standard for how to respond to DNT signals, Spotbo does not currently respond to DNT signals. However, we do not engage in cross-site tracking, and we do not use marketing or advertising cookies regardless of your DNT setting. You can manage your tracking preferences through the cookie consent banner and your browser settings as described above.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or our practices. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice within the app or updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
